48hr Film Project – Cygnus Films

Cygnus Films

BACK TO RESULTS

Position Description

We need a sound mixer to monitor recording levels and a boom operator to hoist the boom pole holding the microphone to capture the sound. They may sound like simple jobs but they can be tedious and time-consuming. On top of that, it’s incredibly vital to film production. Without great sound quality, the film will suffer and audiences won’t pay attention to it and label it as an amateur film.

If you are a sound mixer who can/or prefers to boom operate themselves, let us know in the email! Otherwise, we are looking for 1 SOUND MIXER and 1 BOOM OPERATOR.

PREFERENCES:

  • It would be really nice to find someone with their own audio equipment featuring a recorder, boom pole, 3-pin XLR cables, shotgun microphone, and/or lavalier mics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a hard worker who can follow orders.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

NOTE: If you are under the age of 18 and are looking to join the cast/crew, we will have special instructions for you. Email us to receive more information.

Project Description

We’ll be participating in the annual 48hr Film Project in Indianapolis. If you’re unfamiliar with the event, it’s a competition for a bunch of filmmaking teams to write, shoot, and edit a short film within 48hrs. The event always takes place on a weekend when it’s most convenient for everyone to work. Part of the project is not knowing what the film will be about because of a strict rule they have is no writing a script beforehand. Everything must be done during the official 48hrs. On the night of the kickoff event, we’ll be drawing two genre’s out of a hat and we must choose one of them and write the film within that genre. Every team is assigned the same prop that must be used in the film, the same line a character has to say, and a character itself. One thing we are able to do beforehand is location scout and hire cast/crew for the team.

Most likely we won’t need the cast/crew to show up until the day of filming (Saturday, July 27, 2019). More details will be featured via email for those who are interested. It’s going to be a fun weekend of collaboration and filming. We look forward to hearing from you!
